Last Mushroom Class (Mendocino County)

Mushroom identification courses are one hour long. The class is followed by 2.5 hours of foraging (optional) for those who choose to stay after completing the course. This foraging is not part of the course but I always stay to forage with course graduates and the experience offers a great way to explore the fungi and woods in your area. Weather permitting (and if edible mushrooms are abundant), I like to finish by cooking a gourmet wild mushroom appetizer on the spot for those folks who stayed until the end! These events proceed rain or shine so rain gear is strongly suggested. Remember, the rain is "liquid sunshine" and is the whole reason that mushrooms grow. As such, aspiring mushroom foragers are encouraged to embrace the rain for the life it brings!
